Brooklyn, New York-based M&P Production Ltd is recalling around 669 pounds of raw lamb and beef samsa products due to misbranding and undeclared sesame seeds, a known allergen, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service or FSIS.
The recall involves 16-oz. plastic-wrapped tray packages containing “SAMSA HALAL”; as well as 12-oz. plastic-wrapped tray packages containing “M&P DELICACIES Lamb Dumplings Lamb Samsa”.
The raw, frozen lamb and beef samsa items were produced between January 2 and February 22 and have a shelf-life of one year. Both products’ USE BEFORE” dates include 01/02/25 through 02/22/25.
The impacted products, with establishment number “EST. 18832” inside the USDA mark of inspection, were shipped to retail locations in Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
The recall was initiated after the agency discovered the issue during routine in-plant verification activities. However, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products to date.
Over concern that some product may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers, the FSIS urged them to throw away or return them to the place of purchase.
In similar recalls due to undeclared sesame, Woodbridge, Ontario-based Summer Fresh Salads Inc., earlier in February recalled its Wegmans Harissa Hummus Topped With Harissa.
Virginia-based Whitley’s Peanut Factory in mid January recalled 12oz Deluxe Nut Mix citing undeclared sesame, along with other known allergens of milk, peanuts, soy, and wheat.
