Cage the Elephant’s “Neon Pill” has moved to the top spot on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay Chart dated March 23, giving the rock band its first No. 1 on the list in four years.
The song moved a place up from the previous week’s No. 2 position on the chart.
“Neon Pill” is Cage the Elephant’s first No. 1 since the band’s “Black Madonna” led for two weeks in April 2020. The band’s “Skin and Bones” reached No. 3 in February 2021.
The track’s climb to the top spot has earned Cage the Elephant their sixth career Adult Alternative Airplay ruler. The band’s first No. 1 on the list was with “Come a Little Closer,” which stayed atop the chart for two weeks in March 2014. “Mess Around” (two weeks, February 2016), “Ready To Let Go” (one week, March 2019) and “Social Cues” (one week, October 2019) were the other No. 1s from the band.
On Alternative Airplay, “Neon Pill” is ranked No. 3, and on Mainstream Rock Airplay, it is at No. 30.
On the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, “Neon Pill” has moved 6-5.
“Neon Pill” is the lead single and title track from Cage the Elephant’s sixth studio album, due out on May 17 via 110/RCA Records.
