Ellison Bay, Wisconsin-based Kick Ash Products, LLC is recalling selected lot of Door County Love Dark Chocolate Cherry Granola citing possible presence of undeclared almonds, a known allergen, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.
The recall involves Dark Chocolate Cherry Granola with Lot # 061241 and Best by Date of 08/31/24. The product is sold in brown plastic bags, with clear viewing window and a red label.
The impacted product was distributed in Ellison Bay, Wisconsin. It may have reached through consumers through the company’ss retail store in Ellison Bay or online orders placed at kickashproducts.com between the dates of 02/26/24 to 03/11/24.
The recall was initiated after Kick Ash discovered that the Dark Chocolate Cherry Granola containing almonds was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of almonds. As per the probe, a temporary breakdown in the company’s production processes caused the issue.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds may get serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. However, the company has not received any reports of illnesses related to the product to date.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled product are urged to return it to Kick Ash Products for a full refund.
In similar recalls, Quaker Oats Co., affiliated to food and beverage major PepsiCo, Inc., recalled select granola bars in December as well as in January.
