Rising country star Megan Moroney recently released a vulnerable new breakup ballad, called “28th of June.”
Moroney, Ben Williams, Mackenzie Carpenter and Micah Carpenter co-wrote “28th of June,” which is a follow-up to “No Caller ID,” which arrived in January and set the record for the biggest country female song debut in streams in the U.S.
“28th of June comes out tonight i hope everyone is ready to cry,” Moroney posted on social media ahead of the song’s release.
The piano ballad sees Moroney exploring the devastating aspects of moving on a from a breakup. “28th of June it was me and you / Rose petals on the bed and I love you / Written on a happy one year card / Here’s to forever, you have my heart,” she sings.
“Drank a bottle of red and opened up another/Danced around the room holding onto each other/Like we were never gonna let go/I was too naïve to know,” she goes on.
Moroney recorded the song at Blackbird Studio in Nashville. Her frequent collaborator Kristian Bush produced the track.
