The Roots have announced two outdoor shows for this summer, marking their first U.K. dates in six years.
The hip-hop legends, comprised of Questlove and Black Thought, are set to headline South Facing Festival at London’s Crystal Palace Park Bowl on August 2. They will also headline a show at Dreamland as part of the Margate Summer Series on August 3.
Both shows will feature support from special guests De La Soul and The Pharcyde. Tickets go on sale at 10 am on April 5.
The Roots’ most recent studio album was 2014’s …And Then You Shoot Your Cousin. In 2021, they reissued their 1995 studio album Do You Want More?!!!??!
“We are so excited to be bringing together one of the greatest hip hop line-ups in the last ten years featuring three truly ground-breaking live hip hop acts. We are making this into a real celebration of the genre and will be featuring plenty of special guest rappers and DJs to boot. I am sure this special event will be remembered for generations going forward,” says Rob Waller, Founder and Programmer of the Margate Summer Series.
