Two Men Found Guilty Of Killing Run-DMC's Jam Master Jay

March 2, 2024
in Entertainment

Two men have been found guilty of killing Run-DMC’s Jam Master Jay in 2002.

After weeks of testimony, Ronald Washington, Jay’s childhood friend, and Karl Jordan Jr., Jay’s godson, were convicted of murder.

Jurors delivered the verdict at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York in Brooklyn on Tuesday, February 27th. Washington and Jordan each face a minimum of 20 years behind bars. The sentencing is set for a later date.

The two men were indicted and charged in connection with the murder of Jam Master Jay in August 2020. Prosecutors had alleged that the shooting was the result of a cocaine deal gone bad. In court documents, U.S. attorneys claimed that they conspired to kill Jay after he excluded Washington from the deal.

The verdict comes more than 20 years after Jam Master Jay, born Jason Mizell, was fatally shot at a recording studio in Jamaica, Queens, on October 30, 2002.
