Sinead O'Connor's Estate Demands Donald Trump Stop Playing 'Nothing Compares 2 U' At Rallies

The estate of Sinead O’Connor is asking former President Donald Trump to stop playing the singer’s version of “Nothing Compares 2 U” at his campaign rallies.

O’Connor, who passed away in July 2023, was a fierce advocate of women’s rights and never a fan of Trump. In an interview in 2021, the Irish musician said, “I actually do believe Donald Trump is the biblical Devil, the f**ker.”

In a statement released earlier this week, O’Connor’s estate demanded that Trump cease playing the song immediately.

The statement reads, “Throughout her life, it is well known that Sinéad O’Connor lived by a fierce moral code defined by honesty, kindness, fairness and decency towards her fellow human beings. It was with outrage therefore that we learned that Donald Trump has been using her iconic performance of ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ at his political rallies.”

“It is no exaggeration to say that Sinéad would have been disgusted, hurt and insulted to have her work misrepresented in this way by someone who she herself referred to as a ‘biblical devil,'” the statement adds. “As the guardians of her legacy, we demand that Donald Trump and his associates desist from using her music immediately.”

Variety said the song “Nothing Compares 2 U” was played at Trump’s rallies on Maryland and North Carolina over the weekend.
